Arkamys, a leader in audio software solutions for consumer electronics, and Mentor Graphics, a leading provider of embedded software solutions today announced the availability of the Immerse U suite of audio enhancement algorithms on the Nucleus® Platform Media Player.
Arkamys, a recognised expert in audio software implementation, pushes back the limits of headset and speaker capabilities, offering users outstanding comfort and sensations when listening. The Immerse U algorithms significantly improve the listening experience with headsets and speakers, closing the gap on the regular High Fidelity experience.
Specifically adapted to the Nucleus Platform Media Player, a multimedia application reference design which enables the rapid development of differentiated multimedia devices while minimizing power consumption and reducing hardware requirements, the combined solution gives the consumer electronics manufacturers the opportunity to offer a new, more absorbing and more realistic audio experience to the end-users, using the latest innovations in digital signal restitution and sound spatialization.
“We are pleased that Arkamys’ world-class innovations in audio technology are now available to customers of the Nucleus Platform Media Player,” noted Glenn Perry, general manager, Embedded Systems Division, Mentor Graphics. “This collaboration affords mobile device manufacturers a proven, off-the-shelf way to give consumers an exceptional audio experience that far exceeds the expectations set by standard sound playback technology.”
Based on the Nucleus Real Time Operating System (OS), a powerful user interface (UI) engine, and a full complement of Eclipse-based development tools, this customizable media player reference platform accelerates multimedia product development while minimizing memory footprint, power consumption and development costs.
Developers will have the opportunity to implement Arkamys Immerse U signal processing libraries for an enhanced user listening experience:
- Immerse U Multi-Channel Support solution allows managing any type of audio content while optimizing the audio restitution through standard stereo headsets, speakers or even home theatre kit or speaker-bar. In particular Arkamys software can recreate the six surround channels using the only two physical channels found on standard stereo headsets.
- Immerse U acoustic optimization solution will enable consumer electronics manufacturers to differentiate through a unique acoustic signature and provide their users with unprecedented listening experience.
- Immerse U controls & effects enable users to set audio parameters to personalize the way they listen to music, and lets product managers add more user friendly features to their products.
“Mentor’s Nucleus Real Time OS is the most widely deployed commercial embedded OS in the mobile handset market today due to its small footprint, power efficiency, real time performance and flexibility, streamlining handset development time and cost” said Philippe Tour, CEO of Arkamys. “Responsive to the mobile handset market needs, Mentor’s single-vendor media player reference platform enables developers to more quickly implement core functionality, giving them more time to focus on delivering compelling multimedia experience.”
