2010 – 02 – 15, Paris – France – Arkamys announced today its audio features optimized for ARM Cortex-A9 Processors
Based on its expertise in audio software implementation, Arkamys, a member of the ARM Connected Community™, is now able to offer its successful algorithms for the ARM® Cortex™-A9 processor.
The libraries were optimized using the ARM RealView® Development Suite 4.0 Professional tools. Thanks to the ARM NEON™ compiler’s autovectorization technology, the libraries demonstrate better performance compared to hand-optimized assembler equivalent implementations for ARM11™ and ARM9E™ family processors. Moreover, these tools permit fixed-point C code to be efficiently ported five times faster than previously, leading to a reduced design time and accelerated time-to-market.
The outstanding performance gains, combined with Arkamys’ device fine-tuning skills now enable handsets and portable devices to fully benefit from high-end 3D audio effects and surround sound.
“When we decided to port audio applications on the ARM Cortex-A9 processor, we did not imagine that we could get such impressive results,” says Philippe Tour, CEO of Arkamys. “The gains our audio software has achieved with ARM RealView Development Suite clearly allow us to imagine new innovative solutions, even on devices with high constraints. Thanks to our ARM Cortex-A9 processor expertise, we are very confident we can maintain a strong leadership in digital audio solutions.”
“The work Arkamys has completed is a clear demonstration of the benefits which the ARM ecosystem can deliver to our licensing Partners,” said John Goodacre, Director Program Management, Processor Division,ARM. “The Cortex-A9 processor is increasingly being designed into leading-edge smart mobile devices which demand high definition audio performance as one of the key attributes. The optimized Arkamys libraries will help our Partners to deliver the products required.”
