HOW TO BUILD A LESS THAN 99$ AMBISONIC MICROPHONE ? – Episode 1
Learn in 4 steps how to build a less than $99 multi microphone. You have read the episode 0... Now go straigh to the point with the 1st episode to know more about the ARKAMYS ambisonic microphone.
Involved in innovative 360 audio R&D, ARKAMYS built its own ambisonic microphone.
This is made of 4 STM digital Mems omnidirectional microphones.
You also need: the STM32 NUCLEOS development board, the ST CCA02M1 extension board and 4 additional ST MP34DT01 microphones.
When the STM32 board is connected to your PC, you can use it as a standard – 4 channels input – sound card.
These Mems microphones allow a very compact packaging. Thus, the 4 capsules can be very closed – as it recommended for the ambisonic recordings.
The next steps are :
- Creating a mechanical design to have the ST microphone on a sphere,
- Running in lab acoustical measurement of the mechanical design including the 4 microphones,
- Developping a dedicated software to transform the 4 microphones RAW data into ambisonic B-FORMAT data.
