HOW TO BUILD A LESS THAN 99$ AMBISONIC MICROPHONE – Episode 3

In this episode, discover how to build a mechanical design for the in-lab measurements.

We have released the first ambisonic SpheriMic by ARKAMYS.

The microphone uses 4 STM Mems digitals microphones and a STM32 processor.

SpheriMic by ARKAMYS can be directly connected to a Windows based PC and is used as a multichannel 4 inputs sound card.

As of now, the hardware is ready for the in-lab measurements.

That non-expensive multi-microphone does not follow the standard ambisonic tetrahedral rules. This one is made of omnidirectional microphones.

A dedicated converter must be developed to generate a SN3D ACN B FORMAT (Google Spatial Audio for VR standard). This is the next step of the project.

The individual microphone frequency responses must be measured to define the conversion law from RAW data to B FORMAT.
